I spent a wonderful, focused time in the wintry residency in Outokumpu.
The primary goal of my tactile artworks is to give the viewer an experience of how form can be perceived through the sense of touch, if one gives the sense a chance. Eyes are not needed for a person to perceive form with the "eyes of the mind."
Non-seeing sculpting means working in such a way that I do not see the object being molded. The gallery given to me as a workspace provided excellent opportunities for this. I feel that seeking form solely with the "vision" of my hands enables a naive, spontaneous form language in clay that I am striving for.
